We’re officially living in the Rihanna era. After years of waiting, clinging to every shred of information regarding new music, tapping into anything and everything Fenty related, and falling in love with her maternity ‘fits, her comeback unfolded.
Thanks to Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, we got our first taste of new music with “Born Again” and “Lift Me Up,” the latter of which went on to be nominated for Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards.

Naturally, given Rihanna’s sharp rise back to the forefront of the music industry with a monumental half-time performance at the Super Bowl, which brought in record viewership, Fenty PUMA‘s upcoming return to market, and the nomination of “Lift Me Up,” the Oscars called on Rihanna to perform.
Unsurprisingly, Rihanna managed to cause a spectacle before even stepping on stage, thanks to a series of statement looks, beginning with a dark leather look courtesy of Alaïa, before slipping into custom Maison Margiela by John Galliano, adorned with a curtain of crystals and golden florals.

The second of the night’s three looks was the one Rih took to the stage in, delivering a performance that deservingly received a standing ovation.
Amongst the crowd was us. Well, not really; ASAP Rocky was, once again, caught by cameras being Rih’s biggest fan, just like us.

Smiling ear-to-ear, champagne in hand, he toasted his queen. We can’t help but gush at the couple; their matching ‘fits, Rocky’s devoted support of Rih’s power moves; even the memes that followed their British Vogue cover.

Once the show was over, Rih slipped into a custom Bottega Venetta look that proudly bore her baby bump.
While we collectively await the arrival of the second ASAP Fenty baby and the inevitable R9, just like Rocky, we’ll be in the crowd, supporting the rise and rise of Rihanna.
