Dan Wieden, Co-Founder of Wieden + Kennedy, Has Died at Age 77

Dan Wieden, the co-founder of ad agency Wieden + Kennedy, passed away at the age of 77. He was a creative maven and was famously known for crafting arguably one of the most recognizable tag lines in advertising history: Nike's "Just Do It."

Alongside his late business partner David Kennedy, Wieden built one of the world's largest and most successful ad agencies in the world that started out in Portland, Oregon and expanded globally. Wieden was a trailblazer in the advertising industry, and his imprint became a household name thanks to its crafty messaging and marketing strategies made for the Swoosh. Today, W+K currently has offices across the globe from Portland to New York to Tokyo to London, and it currently has an impressive client roster of big box brands such as Nike, McDonald's, Samsung, Corona and more.

In a statement, Wieden + Kennedy said, "“We are heartbroken. But even more so, we are overcome with gratitude and love. Thank you Dan, for throwing the doors wide open for people to live up to their full potential. Thank you for your steadfastness, courage, faith and abiding love. Thank you for making this beautiful creative life possible. We will miss you so much.”
