Kanye West Is Being Sued Over Unpaid Wages (Again)

Kanye West is no stranger to legal controversy. This week, the rap mogul was named in a new $1 million class-action lawsuit over unpaid wages stemming from his Nebuchadnezzar opera performance back in 2019.

According to legal documents obtained by the Blast, Kanye West and Live Nation are being sued by a group of workers who helped with his live musical production at the Hollywood Bowl last year.

Documents note that Kanye failed to compensate dozens of persons who performed services on the production “including the background actors, performing as audience members.” Furthermore, “defendants oversaw, controlled and ran the production, and the aggrieved employees worked many hours on the production and were not timely paid for their work, or paid at all.”

Kanye’s biblical opera Nebuchadnezzar debuted this time last year featuring original music and was directed by Italian performance artist and longtime West collaborator Vanessa Beecroft. The entire performance was live-streamed on Tidal to overwhelmingly positive reviews.

Kanye West and his team have yet to respond to the claims alleged in the lawsuit.
