In an unexpected act of solidarity, adidas has reshared Nike‘s #UntilWeAllWin campaign on its social platforms, suggesting that the sportswear rivals share a united position on the issue of institutionalized racism in the United States.

Nike had subverted its iconic “Just Do It” slogan in response to the murder of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis on Monday. The sneaker giant shared the anti-racist message with its 112 million followers, with a clip, titled “For Once, Don’t Do It.” The video deliver’s the company’s position on the issue of institutionalized racism in a simple black screen, white letter format.
“For once, don’t do it. Don’t pretend there’s not a problem in America. Don’t turn your back on racism,” the clip reads. “Don’t accept innocent lives being taken from us. Don’t make any more excuses. Don’t think this doesn’t affect you. Don’t sit back and be silent. Don’t think you can’t be part of the change. Let’s all be part of the change.”
Adidas reshared Nike’s campaign with the message, “Together is how we move forward. Together is how we make change.”
The post comes amid protests across the US spurred by mounting frustration over the racially-motivated deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor.
This is not the first time Nike has taken a decided stance against racism. Back in 2018, Colin Kaepernick fronted the brand’s “Just Do It” campaign, and last year Nike released a sneaker with the quarterback, who has been blackballed by the NFL for staging peaceful pregame protests.
