ASICS delivered a smooth, "Smoke Blue/Grand Shark" iteration of its GEL-LYTE III sneaker earlier this month, commemmorating the 30th anniversary of the popular style. Now the brand returns with a neutral-toned counterpart for the sporty silhouette, offering up an earthy "Ivory/Wood Crepe" colorway.
The style is inspired by the Japanese term "Monozukuri," which means "making things, to produce or to manufacture," as explained by the brand. With that in mind, the ivory version has been designed with the art of craftsmanship as a priority, mimicking the quality details of the blue edition.
The upper is layered with mesh and suede paneling for a quality and durable mix of fabrications. Variations in tone on the side stripe logo and heel cuff lend a colorblocked effect, while a white midsole and gum rubber outsole offer a crisp contrast. It's rounded out with a bold red "Hanko"-stamped embelem on the heel, finishing off the sneaker with the brand's signature "GEL" callout in Japanese.
The GEL-LYTE III sneaker in "Ivory/Wood Crepe" is priced at $110 USD and slated to release on April 17 at ASICS' webstore and select retailers.
