Pro wrestler/actor John Cena has pledged $1 million to Black Lives Matter. Cena’s donation comes as a part of the #MatchAMillion initiative adopted by the BTS Army, as he has matched BTS’ $1 million contribution.

Cena is an admitted fan of BTS, previously speaking on his appreciation for their work on The Late Late Show with James Corden. “I became interested in the fact that they are a Korean pop band and they were the first Korean pop band to actually connect everybody throughout the world,” he said. “They have fans throughout the world, so being in live entertainment, I was like, ‘Wow! That’s interesting. How do they do this?’

“Then I began listening to their music and listen to the message they send to their fans, and it’s one of self-love and self-reflection and being confident in yourself even though you may be different,” he went on to add.

Prior to the donation, Cena showed support for fellow WWE superstar Titus O’Neil as he urged fans to join the fight for racial equality. “Now more than ever we need to lean into the uncomfortable and forge positive permanent change,” Cena said.

He continued to echo the sentiment in a tweet issued just yesterday stating, “Change is never easy because it takes us admitting that our efforts and methods may be flawed to a point of severe distortion. Be brave and open-minded in these moments. Welcome ideas and limit excuses. Change is uncomfortable but can yield much more joy for all in the long run.”
