Can We Get a Sicko Burger and Fries with this Travis Scott x McDonald’s Collab?

Just over a week ago, whispers began to circulate about an upcoming collaboration between Travis Scott and McDonald’s. Rumors being rumors, the “news” had to be taken with a rather large pinch of salt — but now a leaked memo published by every outlet on the planet (but started via Business Insider) seems to confirm that the link-up is, in fact, legit.

It looks as though Scott is the first in a line-up of huge names tapped to partner with the fast-food giant. In the memo, McDonald’s US chief marketing exec Morgan Flatley states that the rapper is the “definition of big in culture.” He also added an analysis of Scott’s market value that not only feels a tad unsavory but extremely How Do you Do, Fellow Kids. “[He] will resonate and spark excitement with our youthful multicultural customers, and has a few surprises to delight our crew and ensure they are part of the excitement.”

Flately continues to wax lyrical about how Scott is a big fan of the brand’s “craveable, iconic food” (lol), but doesn’t really divulge any info pertaining to what the collaboration will contain. So, naturally, the internet is speculating.

When rumors first surfaced on Twitter, they were accompanied by images of potential apparel — staff uniforms, burger bun umbrellas, Cactus Jack shorts, and so forth. While these pieces are fine, they feel a little meh in comparison with the genius of Scott’s usual merch game, so if the link-up does involve clothing, fingers crossed its not just the pieces you see above.

Another mockup arrived via Singapore-based 3D artist ccreatt, who whipped up a Happy Meal toy — a figurine that comes with a McD’s feed selection and a face mask so your meal mate can stay Covid-free. Unlike the apparel, that gift is definitely not legit (but it’s better) — however, as most people’s money seems to be on him designing Happy Meal toys, maybe we’ll actually get something similar.

Scott might also give the food packaging a work over as he did for Reeses Puffs cereal last year, but what we’d really love to see, if this whole thing isn’t just press-bait, would be McDonald’s gifting Scott a little menu freedom. We’ll take the La Flamein Nuggets, one Sicko Burger, Cactus Fries, and a Stormi Shake, please — and maybe a new jingle on the side?
