After it was initially unveiled during Converse's signing of Draymond Green last month, release details regarding the brand's performance basketball sneaker have been announced.
According to the brand, its latest G4 model pays homage to the brand’s vibrant, late-’80s basketball aesthetic, but is re-imagined for the modern position-less player like Green. The upper, specifically on the high-top variation, incorporates design elements from the throwback ERX-260 basketball shoe from '88, but is paired with Nike's Zoom Air technology in the forefoot as well as the Swoosh's React foam in the heel of the midsole.
“The reload aspect comes from the Nike React foam technology in the heel, and the explosive component comes from the Nike Zoom in the forefoot," says Brandis Russell, VP of Converse Footwear. "When a player comes down on their heel, the shoe activates the stored energy, and allows him or her to propel forward, especially for relentless players like Draymond Green."
The Converse G4 will release on Converse.com and at select Converse retailers on May 1.
