Maison Margiela has just released a modern take on its signature Tabi Ankle Boots. Inspired by uniforms worn during the French resistance, the Airbag Tabi Boots feature cracking white paint across its calf leather uppers.

The boots also see the customary split-toe design with a hook-and-eye side opening. Placing this pair of boots somewhere between the realm of traditional footwear and modern fashion is the large stacked air-bubble heel unit which is lightly covered in speckled paint with a debossed "numbers" logo.

Made in Italy, these split-toe Tabi Ankle Boots can be found now over at Matchesfashion for a price of $909 USD.

In other footwear news, Rick Owens keeps it androgynous with futuristic Chelsea boots.
