Mark Gonzales and adidas's whimsical collaborative efforts are continuing with a new take on the Superstar. Equipped with multiple iterations of the Gonz's signature Shmoo graphic, the playful adidas Originals design follows closely on the heels of Gonzales's signature "Shmoofoil" apparel line with adidas Skateboarding.

Four suede Shmoo embellishments appear on the crisp leather upper: two smiling iterations outlined in pink and purple on the lateral side, and a duo of frowning characters traced in blue and red on the medial side. In classic Gonz fashion, the meaning is up for interpretation — this could be a commentary on the duality of emotions and how humans are often "happy" on the outside but "sad" on the inside, or it may simply be an abstract set of doodles.

Moving on from the graphic's potential connotations, the rest of the design takes on a clean and crisp look. The signature Three Stripe graphics have been removed from the midfoot and replaced with Stan Smith-style perforations, while the leather tongue is thinned out and equips a tonal debossed badge. Heel tabs are dressed in black, with rubber toe caps and midsoles using an eggshell hue to match the Shmoo shades.

The Mark Gonzales x adidas Superstar "Shmoo" is set for an April 24 release via the adidas UK webstore, and is priced at £85 GBP (approximately $106 USD).

This may not be the only Shmoo Superstar we see this spring either: fellow adidas Skateboarding team member Blondey McCoy offered a first look at another style in March.
