New Balance has provided a proliferation of classic chunky silhouettes ranging from the 850 to the 801 in recent months, and now the 703 — a classic trail sneaker — has joined in on the fun. Appearing in a quintet of sturdy makeups that range from colorful to monochromatic, the 703 is an ideal choice for sneakerheads who appreciate a hiking aesthetic.

Made of mesh and nubuck, each pair presents a layered top half that's capped off by a scuff and weather-resistant rubberized toe guard. 703 branding appears on both the tongue and the midfoot, making its presence felt without being overbearing. Midsoles are constructed from EVA foam, and outsoles use boldly patterned lugs for exemplary traction.

Five colors are available: a detailed black and gray with hot red and volt accents, a classic gray, navy and maize that any New Balance loyalist is sure to recognize, a summer-ready mix of white, gray, navy and sport blue, a murky black and gray with hot orange accents and a stark all black.

This quintet of 703s is available via the New Balance webstore and retailers like atmos, with each pair retailing for ¥9,000 JPY (approximately $83 USD).

atmos and New Balance also have a full-on collaborative project in the works — namely a camping-inspired ML850 awash in earthy tones.
