After first working together in 2018, ROKIT and Converse have reunited for a new take on the Chuck 70 Hi. Aiming to merge the worlds of basketball and skateboarding, the collaborative design's tonal patchwork-style upper features panels with textures inspired by blacktops and asphalt. This unique build nods to the stomping grounds of skaters and hoopers alike, while also saluting ROKIT's home base of downtown Los Angeles.

This compelling mix of materials encompasses sturdy canvases and textured ripstops alike, all dressed in black and separated by bold matte black taped seams. The signature All-Star logo patch on the medial collar is done up in a shaggy black fabric that's stitched directly to the base. However, the top half's loudest detail is provided by the tongue badge. This is equipped with ROKIT and Converse logos, placed above a spread-out text hit that reads "Los Angeles 2020, dedicated to those forever unbroken."

Things don't stop up top on these Chuck 70s. Shimmering white midsoles and rubber toe caps are bolstered with black foxing, a black midsole stripe and a black/white heel badge. ROKIT's signature orange dot is embossed on the lateral forefoot, and translucent outsoles reveal a bold print underneath their clear rubber build.

"The Chuck 70 is classic yet constantly evolving at the same time," says Bam Barcena, ROKIT creative director. "The idea of it originally being a basketball shoe and now being more of a cultural icon says a lot — and that magic of being able to exist in seemingly different spaces is very much in line with the spirit we capture with ROKIT."

The ROKIT x Converse Chuck 70 Hi is set to release via the Converse webstore and select retailers in May. A MSRP has yet to be announced.
