Grace Wales Bonner is yet to put a foot wrong when it comes to her and her adidas Originals collaborations.

Since their debut release in late 2020, the pair have gone on to drop banger after banger, including a slew of collaborative adidas Sambas which have played a big part in the silhouette’s recent rise.
Now with Spring/Summer 2023 fast-approaching, it looks as if we’re beginning to embark on a new chapter of Wales Bonner x adidas Originals, after in-hand images of more collaborative sneaks have started surfacing online.

As expected, the Samba again makes another appearance — this time in brown, “ecrtin” and “almyel” colorway and a previously-seen metallic silver — although comes with the neat addition of a fold-over tongue, a nod to the silhouette’s footballing roots and the pair’s 2020 debut.

Two knitted SL72s look to be joining the party — coming in either brown or green colorways — both of which are then overlaid with buttery suede paneling.
It’s no secret that archival adidas silhouettes are having a moment right now, and Wales Bonner’s collabs have helped out significantly. Styles like the Campus and the Gazelle, as well as the Samba, are becoming increasingly hard to get a hold of, which too is in part down to the rise of Fashion TikTok.

The #Campus00s hashtag currently boasts over 5 million views on TikTok, while the platform has also introduced older silhouettes to a wave of younger clientele.
Nevertheless, another Wales Bonner adidas collab is almost upon us, but this season the question on everyone’s lips will be: will you wear your Samba tongue up, or down?
