Kyrie Irving's fascination with the stars and the great unknown makes him a perfect candidate for Nike Basketball's "Planet of Hoops" pack, so the Kyrie 6 has been presented in a new space-themed style. This design sets an eerie prescient for future months with a hand-scrawled "There Is No Coming Back" text on its lateral quarter, an embellishment that unintentionally acknowledges the global changes forced by the COVID-19 coronavirus.
However, there's plenty of other less serious details and colors to be had on Irving's new shoes. The base is made up of white and tan tones, with a dripping slime green Swoosh present under the aforementioned message. Textured heel pieces are dressed in a rich black, and the forefoot strap offers a semi-translucent, glow-in-the-dark construction with an all-seeing eye embellishment.
Lateral sides are richly detailed as well, with the inner quarter featuring a galaxy-centric doodle that shows a small black Swoosh surrounded by shooting stars and basketball-shaped planets. There's a similar slime green Swoosh here as well, and the midfoot strap's anchor features a ridged "VI" graphic.
Tongues are split between a final planetary graphic on the right shoe and standard Kyrie branding on the left, the latter of which uses a rich purple to match the eyestay stitching. Finally, midsoles with Air Zoom Turbo loaded in the forefoot and colorful outsoles complete the look.
The Nike Kyrie 6 "Planet of Hoops" will release on Nike SNKRS China come April 12, and retails for $130 USD.
